I loved my job in the early 90’s. I had autonomy and authority.
I knew what to do and was getting results.
Then, my boss told me the company was going to restructure. With that one statement, I would be transformed into a puppet and didn’t know it.
This was the beginning of the end.
My first experience leading a restructuring.
Beginning in 1992, my corporation was facing some difficult times. The Healthcare Services industry was changing, and the leadership felt the need for change.
I worked for the leading medical device manufacturer and distributor.
You understand that simple change is a smoke screen that gives one cover, an activity that distracts your boss and her boss.
But it buys you time and looks like you are making progress.
Too much of this had taken place.
