Member-only story
Business is simple, yet people make it hard. Thus, if there are people in a business, then business is hard. If it’s an entrepreneur, business is harder.
My father and brother were successful entrepreneurs. Up until a couple of years ago I had no idea what it would be like to work for an entrepreneur. Yet now, I’ve worked for several, and I know what it’s like.
It is not fun or fulfilling. Unless you are fulfilled by talking employees off the ledge on the 10th floor of a building.
I hate to believe that my dad or brother were narcissistic. Yet it is a distinct possibility.
It took me awhile to sift through the rhetoric at this new company and figure out who was telling the truth. If there was any truth at all.
A Narcissist is always right.
Once I got in the flow, I had to shut down emotionally in order to withstand the abuse to others and me. Emotional abuse.
Founders are very good at that. Passive aggressive. Saying one thing and then changing their mind before an employee can even take step one. Spinning their wheels.
It is a perfect environment for employees who don’t want accountability. Because once you get hired, you can stay forever.
